SUMMARY OF CRASH:
On September 13, 2022, at approximately 0834 hours, Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash located on VT Route 116 near the intersection with Meehan Road in the Town of Bristol. Investigation revealed Asa Vessa (25) of Middlebury, VT was traveling south on VT Route 116 in a Toyota Camry, while Jason Cota (56) of Starksboro, VT was traveling north in a GMC Sierra.
Vessa began to hydroplane, entering the northbound lane of travel while traveling south. Cota attempted to avoid the collision by pulling onto the shoulder of the northbound lane of travel. Vessa subsequently collided head-on with Cota.
Both Cota and Vessa sustained minor injuries in the collision and both vehicles were totaled as a result of the crash.
VT Route 116 in the area of Meehan Road was temporarily closed and then temporarily reduced to one lane of travel.
The Vermont State Police were assisted by the Bristol Fire Department, Bristol Rescue, and Bristol Heavy Rescue.
