7/26/2022 Medicare Fraud

by | Jul 26, 2022 | Firm News

There is once again an aggressive fraud campaign underway to steal information related to Medicare. Criminals working from foreign call centers are blanketing Vermont (likely other states as well) with phone calls asking if the intended victims received the new Medicare Card. They are working from established data files allowing them to identify their targets by name and with other personal information. Recipients of these calls should hang up immediately. Medicare as well as other government agencies will not call regarding programs and request either money or information. In addition, there is no new Medicare card being distributed at this time. The change in the numbering system occurred in 2018 and 2019.
