NEWPORT — A 64-year-old man from Newport was killed in a motorcycle crash this afternoon in Kirby.

Emergency workers were notified of a two-vehicle crash on US Route 2 near the Kirby, St. Johnsbury town line at around 1:20 p.m.

Police say Larry Bowman was traveling east when he lost control of his motorcycle on a curve in the road and entered the westbound lane.

Bowman then sideswiped Todd Colby, 56, of Lunenburg, striking the trailer he was towing.

Bowman died from his injuries, police say.

Colby was uninjured in the crash.

State police were assisted by the Essex County Sheriff’s Department, CALEX Rescue, and the Concord Fire Department.
